Nick Ball will fight to defend his WBA featherweight title this week when he faces Sam Goodman in Saudi Arabia. The Liverpudlian will meet his challenger at Riyadh's ANB Arena on the undercard of Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte, with fans able to order the fight on DAZN.
Liverpool FC supporter Ball will fight the evening after the Reds kick off the new Premier League season on Friday (August 15), which sees them begin their own title defence with a home clash against Bournemouth. It comes after Arne Slot's men fell short in the Community Shield on Sunday, losing to Crystal on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
Ball, 28, will put his belt on the line for the third time against 'The Ghost', who boasts an unbeaten twenty-fight winning streak (8 KOs). However, all streaks must end, and the former super-bantamweight challenger, 26, faces a daunting task against Ball, who carries an equally impressive 22-0-1 (13 KOs) record.
The 'Wrecking Ball' secured his WBA featherweight strap in a thrilling encounter last summer against American Raymond Ford, with Ball claiming a tight victory after 12 rounds. His most recent bout came in December against TJ Doheny at the M&S Bank Arena, with Ball securing victory with a 10th-round stoppage, reports the Liverpool Echo.
He enters his upcoming contest full of confidence and believing he possesses the upper hand. Speaking to The Ring, he said: "He'll probably stand and try and fight, won't he?
"He wants to become world champion. Then he'll realise he can't do that and I'll take over. Either way, whatever way it's going to go, it's going to be in my favour."
