Everton turn focus to Leicester City star as Tyler Dibling alternative

Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu is the latest Foxes man to be linked away with Everton keen on his services after a move for Southampton’s Tyler Dubling has stalled, reports Alan Myers.

Leicester City endured a challenging summer in the lead-up to the 2025/26 season, but they kicked things off with a hard-fought victory on Sunday afternoon. Coming from behind, LCFC edged past Sheffield Wednesday 2-1.

After Nathaniel Chalobah put the visitors ahead, Jannik Vestergaard levelled the score before Wout Faes powered in a late bullet header to seal the win, marking a successful start to Marti Cifuentes’ reign. Despite the positive result, concerns remain.

A potential points deduction hangs over the club, while Cifuentes still awaits reinforcements for a squad already weakened by several departures, and with more exits potentially on the horizon. One player whose future could be in doubt is Abdul Fatawu.

Premier League clubs have been keen on Fatawu all summer, and now Everton have been named as a potential suitor. Reporter Alan Myers has said that Everton are keen on the Leicester City man.

Everton had been looking to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling this summer. However, those efforts have started to stall, and Fatawu looks like their next choice.

The winger struggled with injuries last season. However, he started the opening day win over Sheffield Wednesday and impressed with a 7.94 match rating, according to FOTMob.

Abdul Fatawu deserves another shot at Premier League football after injury struggles

Leicester City brought in Ghanaian talent Fatawu on loan from Sporting CP in the summer of 2023, and he quickly won over the fans. Fatawu was a real standout in the 2023/24 Championship title triumph.

He cemented his status as one of the league’s top performers and a prospect with a bright future. That form paved the way for a permanent move to LCFC last summer.

However, his Premier League campaign was cut short after just two assists in 11 appearances when an ACL injury struck in November. Now fully fit and impressing in pre-season, Fatawu looks set to catch the eye again, whether in City blue or elsewhere.

Leicester City need to start reinvesting as soon as possible

Interest in Fatawu is starting to mount, along with Bilal El Khannouss. Leicester City have already lost four clear players this summer and are yet to replace any.

The money brought in from Fatawu and El Khannouss, along with Mads Hermansen, who has joined West Ham, will be very handy. However, the money needs to be spent by the end of the month.

It was clear to see on opening day that Leicester City are not as good as they’d hope. That said, they may just be a couple of signings away from being competitive.
