Now Juventus are linked with Albion man after report of 'talks'

Juventus are the latest Italian club to be linked with interest in Matt O’Riley.

Conflicting reports have the Serie A giants in the running for a permanent deal or a loan for the midfielder.

O’Riley has been a regular in the No.10 role for the Seagulls in pre-season.

Speculation early in this window – which at one stage saw transfer-market influencer Fabrizio Romano delete his own tweet about interest in O’Riley – appeared to have died down.

Reports that he could go to Italy were described closer to Brighton as fake news.

However, Sebastien Vidal of Weekend Sports now believes Juventus have made contact with [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/) over a five-year deal having first reached agreement with O’Riley himself.

Turin-based Tuttosport are reporting, via Nicholas Schira, that O’Riley would be open to joining Juve but they must first bring in funds by making sales.

Gazzetta Dello Sport believe Juventus would like O’Riley on loan if they cannot prise top target Sandro Tonali from Newcastle.

Early in the window, O’Riley was said to be subject of interest from Atalanta, Roma and Napoli.

A leading source close to the latter said he was indeed on a list of players who were interesting the champions’ sporting director Giovanni Manna - but no more than that.

Albion have options to play off the No.9, including Georginio Rutter, who has led the attack in pre-season.

Hurzeler spoke after the pre-season win over Wolfsburg about possibly playing Rutter and Welbeck together.

But O’Riley has been productive in pre-season.

He told the Argus after scoring against Las Palmas in Spain that he is having fun with the Seagulls.
