Thomas is currently a restricted free agent, which means the Nets could match any offer that comes his way and keep him on the team.
But his management team has been relatively quiet, and not many offers have come his way.
Because of that, it sounds like Thomas may decide to just accept the current qualifying offer from the Nets, which is worth six million dollars for the upcoming season.
After that, he would be an unrestricted free agent next summer and could have a lot more opportunities.
That means that this upcoming season will be even more important for Thomas, allowing him a full year to produce some impressive numbers and bump up his value in free agency.
He already had a lot to prove in 2025-26, but the stakes have been raised even more for Thomas.
When he’s healthy, he’s an effective star.
Last season, Thomas produced 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists on 43.8 percent from the field.
