Enzo Fernandez will not leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window amid Paris Saint-Germain’s reported links with the 24-year-old Argentine international.
According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Enzo Fernandez may not be a target for Paris Saint-Germain, suggesting the reports pointing to the links are “wide of mark” and that the Argentine international has “zero chance” of leaving Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
Enzo Fernandez and his Chelsea career so far
Enzo Fernandez has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Chelsea from SL Benfica in January 2023. The South American midfielder rose in prominence during his spell with River Plate before seeing his stock soar after his exploits at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Chelsea then secured his services in a big-money move a few weeks after Argentina’s World Cup triumph.
The 24-year-old endured teething problems at Chelsea, with the managerial uncertainties at the West London club not helping him. However, Fernandez has not looked back since becoming Chelsea’s vice-captain, and he enjoyed an excellent 2024/25 campaign, having been instrumental in the Blues’ two trophy wins.
The Argentine international has turned out over 100 times thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with 16 goals and 23 assists. Meanwhile, Fernandez’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked the Chelsea vice-captain with Paris Saint-Germain.
Will Fernandez leave Chelsea soon?
PSG’s interest in Enzo Fernandez is understandable. The 2024/25 Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League winners are keen on reinforcing their midfield unit in the summer transfer window, even though Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Fabian Ruiz have been exceptional under Luis Enrique’s tutelage.
So, Fernandez has emerged as a viable target for PSG, with recent reports claiming the French giants are lining up a big-money move for the Argentine international in the summer transfer window. However, Fabrizio Romano has refuted the claims, suggesting the two clubs have not held talks over a move.
Additionally, Romano has suggested that the Ligue 1 champions are yet to submit a bid and that the 24-year-old Argentine international has “zero chance” of leaving Chelsea in the summer transfer window. With Chelsea reportedly eager to keep Fernandez at Stamford Bridge, a summer move will not see the light of day.
