Leeds United interested in shock move for £12M Liverpool star

Leeds United face Everton in their Premier League opener next week. The club still has a few issues to work on before the league kicks off this weekend.

Daniel Farke has already asked the club to add some signings in attack. This comes after games against AC Milan and Villarreal where Leeds struggled to create a lot of opportunities. On the bright side, the team seems to be decent defensively, and can hold their own against top opposition.

But to pose a threat next season, the club need one or two more attacking options up front. That is not the only area that needs to be addressed before the window closes. Reports suggest a fullback and a number 10 are also on the club’s radar.

The Whites have questionable fullback depth heading into this upcoming season. So far, the senior options include Jayden Bogle, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Isaac Schmidt and Sam Byram. As seen in pre-season, it is most likely Bogle and Gudmundsson will be the starters, with the last two names playing as the backups.

According to Liverpool Echo, Leeds are one of the clubs monitoring the situation involving Konstantinos Tsimikas. This is not the first time the Whites have been linked with a move this summer. According to the report, Leeds and Nottingham Forest could move for the left back in the coming weeks.

Tsimikas missed the Community Shield game over the weekend, raising eyebrows over his future.

The Isaac Schmidt situation

Isaac Schmidt remains a Leeds United player, and even featured in the last two pre-season games for the club. Per reports, Leeds have an agreement in place with Werder Bremen over a loan deal. But Daniel Farke wants a replacement for Schmidt first.

Leeds are struggling to bring in a new left back, which may be delaying the deal.

A move for Tsimikas does not make sense

As it stands, a move for Tsimikas does not make a lot of sense. Leeds have already signed a first choice in that position in Gabriel Gudmundsson. The Swede has already shown in pre-season that he will have a positive impact on the team. Even though he does not provide the burst and dynamism on the overlap like Junior Firpo, he has been key when progressing the ball from deep areas with his passing.

Bringing on board Tsimikas will most likely involve a big fee and huge wages. A player like that will also come in expecting to start every game.

Unless Leeds have another plan, they do not need to pursue this move.
