Omari Hutchinson wants to return to the Premier League, after seeing Nottingham Forest’s transfer bid turned down.
That’s according to Sky Sports News, who claim the Reds saw their £35million offer rejected by Ipswich Town, who started life in the Championship with a 1-1 draw at Birmingham City.
Illness meant Hutchinson was not in the squad for that game as the Tractor Boys needed a late and controversial George Hirst penalty to snatch a point.
Kieran McKenna’s side missed the former Chelsea trainee – who was outstanding in the club’s promotion campaign the season before last – and Sky Sports claim they value him higher, at £40m.
Forest’s initial bid is claimed to have matched Hutchinson’s relegation release clause, which is now said to have expired giving Town more negotiating power on a player who has four years remaining on his contract.
The report claims Forest must now decide whether to up their offer or seek other targets with Ipswich said to be reluctant sellers.
Brentford are also interested in the 21-year-old and Sky point out that he ‘wants to make the move back to the Premier League ’.
Forest have lost Anthony Elanga this summer but have signed Dan Ndoye from Bologna. It has also been claimed they are closing in on a transfer for Manchester City’s James McAtee.
