The NBA is learning the art of the schedule release from the people that do it best: the NFL.
On Monday, the league’s public relations arm revealed it will be taking a page out of the NFL playbook and utilizing the morning shows of its network partners to tease its schedule before a full release comes later this week (August 14). ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today Show will both give a sneak peak of their full NBA schedule on Tuesday morning.
Tune in to @GMA and the @TODAYshow on Tuesday morning for a sneak peek at some of the signature @NBA games on ABC, ESPN, NBC and Peacock for the 2025-26 regular season.

Last week, ESPN’s lead NBA insider Shams Charania reported some of the league’s most important games, including an Opening Night doubleheader on NBC and the five-game Christmas Day slate on ABC and ESPN. It’s unclear if these games will be part of the morning show announcements, or if there will be additional games revealed.
Either way, the NBA is clearly making efforts to juice up its schedule reveal. Every offseason, the NFL creates nearly an entire week of storylines based entirely off of its schedule reveal. Teasing the schedule helps build excitement for the upcoming season, and helps to highlight top games.
The NBA is trying to get in on that action, and it’s wise to do so, especially in a year where the entire structure of its media arrangements are set to change.
