Blackburn Rovers have offered Igor Tyjon a new professional contract as they continue to try to see off interest from Arsenal.

Alan Nixon reports on Patreon that Blackburn Rovers have made Igor Tyjon a new offer of a professional contract, hoping to convince the striker to extend past the end of his current scholarship terms in 2026.
Rovers intend to give Tyjon first-team opportunities this season, and hope that pathway will tempt him to stay and extend his deal.
But Arsenal will be lurking if Tyjon turns Rovers down, as they’ve already made two unsuccessful bids to sign the youth striker. James McNicholas reported for The Athletic last week that the Gunners second offer had been rejected.

Arsenal made their first attempt to sign Tyjon early in the summer, before agreeing a fee to sign Will Wright from Salford City. Yet Wright opted to join Liverpool, and it seems the Gunners reacted by returning to their first target.
With Tyjon in the final year of his scholarship contract, he’ll be available for a training compensation fee next summer unless he extends. So if he refuses to do so, Rovers may yet look to cash in.
Tyjon only joined Rovers’ youth setup from Rochdale in July 2023, so the club wouldn’t be due as much training compensation money as a player who had spent a much greater proportion of his academy career with the club.

Despite Tyjon’s involvement in Rovers’ pre-season, and the promises of senior chances this campaign, the striker wasn’t involved in their first-team squad for the opening game of their Championship season against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Whether that was just a selection decision or a sign that the transfer speculation is unsettling the 17-year-old is unclear.
Rovers have reportedly been trying to get Tyjon to sign professional terms ever since he became eligible in March, so this latest offer is presumably an improvement on their previous proposals. It remains to be seen how he’ll respond.
