According to a report from Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie and confirmed by Florian Plettenburg, AS Monaco are interested in a move for Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier (34).

The Principality side are weighing up an approach for the England international, and are reportedly ‘very keen’ on the right back. Trippier currently has one year left on his contract with Newcastle, but the Magpies are reportedly hesitant to lose the former Tottenham and Burnley defender.

Last season the Englishman made 25 appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle, where he signed in 2021 as the club’s first signing under new ownership.

Monaco’s interest in Trippier comes after Les Monégasques already secured a move for former Tottenham teammate Eric Dier, who signed on a free transfer at the start of the summer after his stint with Bayern Munich.

Former Manchester United and Juventus star Paul Pogba then signed in ASM’s marquee announcement of the transfer window, before securing a loan move for Barcelona attacker Ansu Fati.
