The new Premier League season is approach, and Wolves are under pressure to get some more transfer business done
Wolves have the chance to bring in some new faces before the end of the window. They also have the opportunity to sell some more players over the coming weeks as well. The transfer market shuts on Monday 1st September at 7pm.
Vitor Pereira is preparing for his first full season in charge at Molineux. He was picked as Gary O’Neil’s replacement during the last campaign. The Portuguese head coach has since done an impressive job with the Midlands outfit and has become a popular figure.
Wolves eye Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana
According to CaughtOffside, Wolves are ‘targeting’ a double swoop for Chelsea pair Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana. The report adds that the pair could cost a combined £45 million. Napoli and Rennes are also said to be keen on Disasi, whilst Stuttgart and OGC Nice are believed to be admirers of Fofana too.
Disasi, 27, has slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge over recent times and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him head out the exit door for a new challenge somewhere else. He joined his current club back in 2023 but hasn’t been able to make the impact he would have wanted to.
The France international, who has made five caps for his country to date, has made 61 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions to date, 17 of which came last term. He was loaned out to Aston Villa last January to get some game time under his belt. He went on to play 10 games during his time at Villa Park before heading back to London for pre-season.
Disasi rose up through the academy at Paris FC and was a regular for them at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team as a youngster. Spells at Stade de Reims and AS Monaco then followed on for him in Ligue 1. He was a hit with the latter and made 129 outings, finding the net on an impressive 12 occasions from the back, before he decided to make the switch over to England when the Blues came calling for his signature.
Would David Datro Fofana suit Wolves?
As well as Disasi, Chelsea striker Fofana is also being linked with Wolves. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he would give them something different to pick from in games.
Fofana, 22, was snapped up by the Blues back in 2023 after catching the eye at Molde in Norway. However, he hasn’t been able to nail down a place in the starting XI since his transfer. He has been shipped out on loan to the likes of Union Berlin, Goztepe and Burnley to get some experience.
His long-term situation is up in the air at this moment in time and Wolves could see him as someone to add more firepower to their options up top. The forward hasn’t managed to find the form he had during his early career over the past few years. However, he still has plenty of time on his side.
