Everton's pursuit of Tyler Dibling is now over, according to reports - as talks with Southampton to bring the winger to Merseyside have come to a halt after the price tag proved to be too much money for David Moyes and his recruitment to part with in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window.
The Toffees have a bigger budget than usual to spend this summer after staving away from PSR woes, as well as having new owners in The Friedkin Group, and a brand new stadium to move into - but those factors still won't see Dibling join after his club priced him out of a move to the north-west.
BBC: Everton Have 'Moved Away' from a Move for Tyler Dibling
Tyler Dibling in action for Southampton
The report by BBC Sport journalist Giulia Bould on X (formerly Twitter) states that Everton have moved on from a deal to take Dibling to the Hill Dickinson Stadium - due to Southampton's price tag on the attacker being too high for them to complete a deal.
The two clubs couldn't agree on a fee for the 'special' 19-year-old wing wizard, who massively impressed in his debut Premier League campaign for the beleaguered Saints last time out - and that has led to the Toffees ending any interest in securing a deal for the England youth international. There has been no further contact, according to Bould, and now Everton are prioritising other targets in a bid to strengthen their squad.
It's been a strong couple of weeks for the Merseyside outfit, adding Bayern Munich starlet Adam Aznou to a cohort of summer signings that has included Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry and Mark Travers.
However, the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea has added to their midfield ranks, with Alcaraz now performing on the right in pre-season after taking a central role last season - and the imminent loan arrival of England star Jack Grealish has massively bolstered the Toffees' hopes of a top-half finish, leaving a move for Dibling redundant.
It now sees Iliman Ndiaye, Dwight McNeil, Alcaraz and Grealish competing for minutes on the flanks, as well as Dewsbury Hall playing in a central midfield role - a huge improvement on their squad from last season that had players such as Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom.
Dibling, 19, made 33 Premier League appearances at Southampton last season, scoring two goals on the south coast before their relegation to the Championship - but his effortless dribbling and daring nature was apparent for all to see, prompting initial Toffees interest.
