Jack Grealish looks increasingly likely to complete a season-long loan move to Everton.

Grealish is believed to be open to the move, so it’s now down to Everton and Manchester City to agree the finer details of the loan.

Everton will likely have to cover all of of Grealish’s wages during the loan, which is a large output for the Friedkins to take on.

Still, a deal is expected to be done in the coming days, potentially leaving Grealish free to make his Everton debut against Leeds United on Monday.

Keys make bold Everton claim ahead of Grealish loan deal

Richard Keys believes it would be a huge coup for Everton to confirm a loan deal for Grealish.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The former Sky Sports presenter, who now works for beIN Sports, has gone as far as saying that Everton haven’t had a proper playmaker since Duncan Mackenzie in the 1970s.

His post, published on X on Monday, was likely meant as an ode to Grealish, rather than a dig at the Toffees.

Keys posted: “If the real Jack Grealish turns up at Goodison it’s a great piece of business for Everton.

“They haven’t had a proper 10 since Duncan Mackenzie. Jack could make himself a hero in no time.

MacKenzie left Goodison Park in 1978. Everton have won the league twice and the FA Cup twice since then.

Grealish has a point to prove at Everton

Grealish has been out of sorts for Manchester City for the last couple of seasons. We haven’t arguably seen the best of him since he left Aston Villa to sign for the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola’s tactics appear to have stifled his creativity, and he barely started a game last season.

Jack Grealish 2024-25 statistics

Grealish not only has a lot to prove to the Manchester City hierarchy, but he will also want to make an impact on England boss Thomas Tuchel ahead of the World Cup.

He’ll be desperate to star in that tournament after being snubbed for the European Championships in 2024.

That’s why this transfer makes so much sense for Everton. Grealish will be champing at the bit and David Moyes’ more direct tactics will likely unleash his best form. It will be so exciting to see what Grealish can do in an Everton shirt this campaign.
