**Last summer, Newcastle United brought in goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos from Nottingham Forest as part of the agreement, which took fan-favourite Elliot Anderson the other way.**
It was a PSR move that got both clubs out of the sights of the Premier League and meant both clubs avoided a points deduction. When the deal went through, we knew that Forest had paid £35 million for Anderson, but it wasn't until a week or so later that we discovered that the Magpies had paid £20 million back to Forest for Vlachodimos.
Newcastle had signed John Ruddy already and were trying to land James Trafford from Burnley, but the Greek international's arrival on Tyneside put a halt to that move, and we now all know how that turned out.
It was clear that Eddie Howe didn't want Vlachodimos at the club and he was only there as a result of some creative accounting, but now the Magpies are on the hook for £20 million in terms of PSR so unless someone is willing to pay that inflated price to take him away, our only option is to find a loan move for him.

Remember him?
Odysseas Vlachodimos is heading to Sevilla on loan
--------------------------------------------------
The Newcastle goalkeeper situation is starting to clear up now, with Martin Dubravka having departed for Burnley in the wake of Aaron Ramsdale joining from Southampton on loan.
Now, [The Shields Gazette](https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/odysseas-vlachodimos-newcastle-united-loan-transfer-5266527) have reported that Vlachodimos is heading out to Spain for a medical ahead of a season-long loan move to Valencia.
That will still leave Eddie Howe with perhaps more goalkeepers than any one manager would ever need, but at least we'll be getting Ody off the books for a year.
Can Odysseas Vlachodimos play his way into a permanent switch?
--------------------------------------------------------------
Vlachodimos rejected moves to Saudi Arabia as he wanted to stay in Europe, so everyone is coming out as a winner here. We have absolutely nothing against Ody, and even Eddie Howe has often praised his professionalism.
However, there was no getting away from the fact that he simply wasn't wanted at Newcastle, and we did actually feel bad for him for that. So hopefully he heads to Sevilla and has an outstanding season, and they feel like making it a permanent switch next year for something near what we paid for him.
Good luck in Spain, Ody. Do us proud.
