The Packers have been trying just about everything to replace Jaire Alexander.
After releasing the former All-Pro cornerback back in June, the Packers have moved wide receiver Bo Melton to cornerback, brought back free agent Corey Ballentine, and are hoping to find the right combination of defensive backs to elevate the secondary in coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense before the regular season kicks off next month.

There is an entire season’s worth of football to be played, and it is entirely possible that one of the young cornerbacks on the Packers’ roster emerges as a lockdown defensive back this season.
However, looking ahead to next March and free agency, Bleacher Report NFL analyst Alex Ballentine suggests Cincinnati Bengals veteran cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt could be the Packers’ top free agent priority.
“Thus far, Green Bay is going to be relying on its development of players,” Ballentine writes of the Packers’ cornerback situation for B/R. “Such as Keisean Nixon and free-agent acquisition Nate Hobbs on the outside.
“Cam Taylor-Britt hasn’t been perfect in his time with the Bengals, but he finally put together a healthy season. That will be huge as he played all 17 games last year and picked off three passes. He could be the long-term third corner along with Nixon and Javon Bullard.”
Taylor-Britt isn’t afraid to play with physicality, has strong ball-skills and could be the veteran presence the Packers desperately need at cornerback, a position of outsized value in Hafley’s system.
