Cowboys fan Shaquille O’Neal makes wild bet for opener vs. Eagles

Not much is expected of the Dallas Cowboys in 2025 after they finished last season with a 7-10 record. However, Cowboys fan Shaquille O’Neal is a big believer in his favorite NFL team.

In fact, O’Neal believes the Cowboys will beat the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in their season opener on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Shaq is so confident that he recently made a wild bet on his podcast, The Big Podcast with Shaq.

“We winning this year. I’m guaranteeing it,” Shaquille O’Neal said. “If the Cowboys don’t win this year, I’ll wear that Charles Barkley dress on the strip of Las Vegas.”

At first, Shaq did not specify what exactly the Cowboys had to win to keep him from wearing the dress. That’s when co-host Adam Lefkoe spoke up.

“If the Cowboys lose to the Eagles in Week 1?” he said.

Shaq replied, “I will wear that dress right there in front of my restaurant at the Paris Hotel in Vegas. I’m a man of my word. If we lose to the Eagles I will wear this dress in front of my restaurant at the Paris Hotel.”

The Eagles are currently 7-point home favorites over the Cowboys.

O’Neal also spoke on the podcast about how he became a fan of Dallas, stating that it started when he was a kid watching Ed “Too Tall” Jones earn multiple All-Pro honors and help the Cowboys win a Super Bowl.

“When I was young I used to tell people ‘Too Tall’ Jones was my father,” Shaq explained. “That’s why I like the Cowboys. And I don’t ever switch up. I’m not one of these guys that, you know, whatever team is hot you switch up.”

We will soon see if O’Neal’s confidence in his team leads to him wearing a dress on the Las Vegas strip.
