Newcastle United targeting Leicester City attacking midfielder to replace Sean Longstaff - The…

**Newcastle United need to add another midfielder to their squad this summer after allowing Sean Longstaff to move to Leeds United.**

It shouldn't be as hard for Newcastle to find a midfielder as it has been to find a striker. Not only are there more players available, but they aren't shopping at the top end of the market.

Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton make up the core midfield trio, and it would take somebody special to displace one of those three, so we need someone with quality enough to do the job, but will also be happy with their role as a backup player.

We have Lewis Miley and Joe Willock already, but Willock is set to miss the start of the season with yet another injury, so Eddie Howe needs someone else to flesh out his squad.

Newcastle United now want Bilal El Khannouss from Leicester City

----------------------------------------------------------------

Coventry's Jack Rudoni has been mentioned as a possible target, but now Telegraph journalist John Percy has reported the Magpies' interest in Leicester City's Bilal El Khannouss.

> Newcastle have a strong interest in #lcfc attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss and are looking at a possible deal. El Khannouss has a release clause and is also attracting interest from other PL clubs including Leeds in this window #nufc

The Belgian-Moroccan already has two assists to his name this season in Leicester's first game of the season. Not bad.

The 21-year-old has caught the eye of a few Premier League clubs this summer

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 21-year-old made 36 appearances for Leicester City last season, racking up three goals and five assists as the Foxes battled relegation.

El Khannouss was deployed in several positions, and while he played most of his games as an attacking midfielder, the lack of consistency and less than impressive goal contributions can't be held against him too much, given his age and the quality of the team he was playing in.

Obviously, he's got this season off to a flying start, so who knows, maybe there's some truth to this one and we activate his release clause to get the deal done.
