Day 12 Recap: Browns QBs, Offense have Good Day

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns returned to Berea for a Monday morning practice before they head to Philadelphia to have joint practices with the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles on Wednesday and Thursday. The two teams will play their second preseason game on Saturday at 1 pm.

QB Update

Kevin Stefanski met with the media before practice and gave a little update on the quarterbacks, primarily their health situation.

Quarterback Dillon Gabriel returned to doing some 11-on-11, while Kenny Pickett was limited again to just 7-on-7s.

"Dillon can do some 11 on 11," Stefanski said. "Obviously, we're still mindful of his tightness in the hamstring. Kenny, not just yet in 11-on-11, but both guys are progressing well."

Quarterback Joe Flacco took every first-team rep in 11-on-11s. Flacco connected with Jerry Jeudy on a nice crossing play and again in goal-line practice. He also completed passes to Jamari Thrash

Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders took turns with the 2's and 3's. Pickett was still limited to 7-on-7s but worked with the starters in that time and hit David Njoku in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown on a fade. Njoku wrestled the ball away from Nik Needham. He also connected with Jerry Jeudy, who got behind Ronnie Hickman.

In 11-on-11, Gabriel lofted a nice pass to Diontae Johnson, while Sanders had completions to Sal Cannella and Johnson.

Gabriel connected on a nice touchdown pass to Brenden Bates, who made a nice one-handed catch.

Sanders threw a touchdown to Gage Larvadain in 7-on-7s.

Stefanski was not ready to announce who will start at quarterback on Saturday if Gabriel is ready to play. Sanders and Gabriel are expected to get the majority of the reps.

"I'm not there on the game itself," Stefanski said. "By Wednesday, Thursday, I'll have a better feel for the game and how we're going to handle that, and I'll update you guys, but not there yet."

As for naming a starting quarterback for the season, Stefanski said he is not yet ready to make that decision.
