Xavi Simons is now 'waiting' to sign for one club as Chelsea and Man City show strong interest…

Xavi Simons is the latest name to be linked with a move to Manchester City.

Manchester City have contacted Simons’ agent as they view the Dutch international as a potential replacement for Tottenham Hotspur target Savinho.

However, City would face stiff competition to sign the RB Leipzig attacker.

Considering Chelsea have held a longstanding interest in Simons, the Sky Blues will not find it easy to secure his services.

Xavi Simons’ priority is to sign for Chelsea despite Man City interest

Xavi Simons is one of the best young players in Europe and he would align with Manchester City’s strategy in recent years of signing some of the continent’s most prodigious talents such as Savinho and Jeremy Doku.

Considering the 22-year-old registered 11 goals and eight assists last season, he has further proven his status as a potential superstar.

However, for Enzo Maresca’s side to finalise the former Paris Saint-Germain technician’s signing, they will need to offload players.

While RB Leipzig are open to re-signing Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku on loan, a swap deal involving Simons is not being discussed by both parties.

Pep Guardiola has already decided Rodrygo stance as Man City eye him as Savinho replacement

However, Manchester City News exclusively confirmed that Rodrygo is being eyed at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola has always admired Rodrygo as well, who Real Madrid are willing to sell for £86.5 million.

As a result, Chelsea being the frontrunners to sign Simons over them should not bother Manchester City if they manage to wrap up the 24-year-old’s addition as Savinho’s replacement.
