Exclusive: David Moyes now eyeing one of Europe’s best dribblers for Everton

The Friedkin Group are beginning to deliver their ambition that Everton fans were so desperately craving.

With the Premier League opener for Everton now a week away, David Moyes will want to get as many players as he can before the trip to Leeds United.

It’s a tough game to start the season, but Moyes is unbeaten against Daniel Farke as the Toffees could have an early advantage.

But what the Merseyside club are still lacking is more attacking options, as Jack Grealish’s future arrival can only do so much.

Tyler Dibling won’t be signing for Everton after plenty of back and forth with Southampton, but that might not faze Moyes, who has another shining star in his sights.

Everton now want Leicester City star as Tyler Dibling move fails

With other options now having to be explored, Everton have six Dibling alternatives, but another new name has emerged.

Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu is now a player who looks like a concrete possibility as Everton.News’ Transfer Expert, Graeme Bailey, suggests Fatawu could sign along with someone else.

“He (Fatawu) is on their radar – Everton want at least two more wingers – as we know Doak, Fellows, Hutchinson, Fofana – all on their list, and Fatawu another,” Bailey said.

“Leicester open to sales as their squad is too big – they need to reduce numbers.”

The Ghanaian has impressed for the Foxes since his move from Sporting Lisbon in 2024, and Moyes’ desire for Championship players continues.

Gary Lineker has hailed ‘special’ Abdul Fatawu as Everton target one of the best dribblers

The 21-year-old has been a clear success at the King Power Stadium, and Leicester must sell players to help with their financial constraints.

Many fans might not be familiar with the Ghanaian who struggled with injuries in the top flight last season, but former Everton striker, Gary Lineker, is a big fan.

Lineker called him ‘special’ on Match of the Day in October 2024, as the former Toffees star said: “The game really changed when Abdul Fatawu came on.

“As a Leicester fan, my kids follow Leicester as well. Every time we see the teamsheet and he’s not in it, we go, ‘Oh no, not again. Why is he not playing? This kid is special.'”

He’s shown his expertise already with blistering pace and excellent on-the-ball work, as during Leicester’s 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday, the winger was electric.

Moyes wants players with character, and the former Sporting man has this in abundance through the way he plays.

The acquisition of Grealish is great due to his dribbling skills, but he doesn’t compare to the Foxes attacker, who ranked in the top one per cent for successful take-ons per 90 across Europe.

In comparison, last season, Lamine Yamal had 4.94 of these take-ons per 90, with Fatawu close behind with 4.51, according to Fbref.

He’s an exciting talent, and it’s certainly one to keep an eye on as the window progresses.
