Man United have been linked to signing PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer.

Manchester United’s goalkeeper position remains an uncertain area for Ruben Amorim as reports have said that United are considering replacing Andre Onana, after what was a poor season between the sticks.

The Cameroon international made 50 appearances for United last term, conceding 65 goals, and keeping 11 clean sheets. His performances will need to improve if he is to remain as United’s long-term goalkeeper solution, as there are options for United to replace him.

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is a potential option, and he has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. One of United’s other options is potentially Royal Antwerp keeper Sanne Lammens, who would be more of a younger choice for the future.

Romano issues Donnarumma to Man United update

PSG have signed a new goalkeeper in the form of Lucas Chevalier, placing Donnarumma’s future into uncertainty, especially considering that he has just one year left on his contract in the French capital.

Transfers journalist Fabrizio Romano shared his update of the Donnarumma situation, and the likelihood that the Italian goalkeeper could move to Old Trafford this summer. Romano said on his Youtube channel: “Paris Saint-Germain signed Lucas Chevalier as their new goalkeeper, and he’s going to be the first goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain. Donnarumma is out of contract in 2026, there is no agreement to extend his contract.

“There are many stories on Donnarumma with several clubs, but I can guarantee that at the moment, still nothing is advanced. Manchester United still have to decide if they want to find a goalkeeper who is for the future, like Lammens, or if they want to spend big money on a goalkeeper...It will probably depend on what happens with their goalkeepers. “

Romano also confirmed that several clubs are keeping an eye on Donnarumma’s situation, including United’s rivals Manchester City, who recently signed James Trafford back from Burnley.

“At the moment, there is not something really concrete or advanced for Manchester United because it still needs an internal decision on the goalkeeper case in general.” Romano added, “he has plenty of options around Europe, for example, Manchester City have always been big fans of Gigi.”

PSG are ‘expecting’ a bid from Man United

Amid the rumours around Donnarumma’s future circling, reports have said that PSG are expecting an offer from Manchester United this summer for the 26-year-old. He made 47 appearances for PSG last term, conceding 43 goals and keeping 17 assists.

Recent reports have also said that Chelsea and Inter Milan are also in the hunt for Donnarumma, and that the keeper is hoping for an improvement on his current wages, despite already earning £850,000 per month.

It is understood that the PSG star is open to a move to Old Trafford, but as Romano said, the likelihood of a deal is more based on whether United choose him over Lammens, and what happens regarding the future of Onana.
