Arsenal closing in on a deal to sign key target after agreeing on£55m move - report

Arsenal have reportedly agreed on a deal in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze, as per Football Transfers.

The 27-year-old has continued to enjoy a stellar time with the Eagles, as after winning the FA Cup by defeating Manchester City in the final at the end of last season, he has now lifted the Community Shield by beating Liverpool.

The match vs the Reds ended in a 2-2 draw before the south London club won the game on penalties. Eze missed a penalty in the shootout, thankfully, that didn’t turn out catastrophic due to Dean Henderson’s heroics between the sticks.

The Gunners have already reinforced most of the areas they targeted before the start of the window, with only the left flank still needing attention ahead of the September 1st deadline.

Rodrygo Goes, Anthony Gordon, and Ademola Lookman have all emerged as serious targets, but Eze is seemingly the primary name on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist.

Football Transfers report that Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign the Englishman after agreeing on a deal in principle with the Eagles. Arteta’s side are set to spend around £55m and are going to pay £30m upfront.

Eze to Arsenal

The north London club remain in talks with the player, with the 27-year-old ready to move to the Emirates Stadium. However, the deal hasn’t been finalised yet as Crystal Palace don’t want to sanction the move without buying a suitable replacement.

Eze is a technically gifted, versatile forward as he is comfortable playing on the left flank and in the CAM role. Moreover, he can provide cover on the left side of a midfield three if needed.

The Englishman is a Premier League-proven player and would be a great coup for the Emirates club should they eventually manage to secure his service this summer.

Arsenal have had a mixed pre-season, winning three out of five matches and losing twice. But the good news is that Viktor Gyokeres opened his account against Athletic Club in the last pre-season game. Therefore, this is a huge boost for him and Arsenal before the opening Premier League game against Manchester United on Sunday.
