Fans have already voted for their 2025 Ballon d'Or winner - with Liverpool’s Salah ranking high

Fans have revealed who they think should win the 2025 Ballon d'Or, with Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal just missing out in third. The gala to crown the next Player of the Year is set to be held in late September, with current holder Rodri not even listed among the 30 nominees after a serious knee injury saw him miss the majority of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Several other big names struggled this past season, including Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior – both of whom finished in the top three last time around – so the top spots are likely to be filled with some new and some other familiar faces. However, fans online have made clear who they believe should come out on top, with two players unable to be separated.

Fans Torn on Who Should Win Ballon d'Or

According to the results of a poll conducted by TNT Sports, fans could not decide between PSG star Ousmane Dembele or Liverpool hero Mohamed Salah, as the pair finished tied with 28% of the votes. Dembele is the current favourite to claim the award after contributing 35 goals and 16 assists en route to helping the French giants claim a historic treble, which also included a maiden Champions League title.

Meanwhile, Salah was pivotal in Liverpool's run to a 20th top-flight title and his second at the club. His 29 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League alone tied the record for most goal contributions in a single English top-flight season. However, Liverpool's early exit in Europe means he is unlikely to become only the second ever African to claim the Golden Ball.

As for teenage sensation Yamal, he appears to be a little way off becoming the youngest Ballon d'Or winner in history, with the 18-year-old only racking up 12% of the fan votes.

He is, rather unsurprisingly, tipped to retain his Kopa Trophy for best young player. Meanwhile, an English double is expected on the women's side, with Euro heroes Chloe Kelly and Michelle Agyemang predicted to claim the respective awards in their categories.

Hannah Hampton is backed to make it a hat-trick of Lionesses successes by winning the Women's Yashin Trophy, with PSG outcast Gianluigi Donnarumma the most likely winner of the men's, according to fans.

Sarina Wiegman and Luis Enrique are tipped for Coach of the Year triumphs, while Men’s and Women’s Clubs of the Year are predicted to land in the palms of PSG and Arsenal respectively.
