‘Great things’… Man Utd ace who has‘done very well’told elite heavyweight club is huge‘challenge,’prediction is made

Former England and AC Milan manager Fabio Capello has now offered his two cents on the future of one Manchester United star if he moves away from Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim finally concluded his summer pre-season tour with Manchester United on the weekend after the Red Devils were back in action at Old Trafford.

United hosted Fiorentina at Old Trafford on Saturday and the Red Devils came out on top in the friendly, with both sides playing out a 1-1 scoreline in regular time.

Altay Bayindir saved Fabiano Parisi’s effort from the spot-kick in the Snapdragon Cup clash and United sealed a 5-4 victory over Fiorentina in the penalty shootout.

Following United’s pre-season result against Fiorentina, the Red Devils are putting in their final preparations in training ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League season.

United signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig last week and the 22-year-old Slovenian forward was unveiled at Old Trafford ahead of the Fiorentina match.

Ruben Amorim had been tipped to sign a new striker and the United manager’s transfer acquisition of Benjamin Sesko might have sealed Rasmus Hojlund’s fate.

Hojlund has been linked with AC Milan and the 22-year-old Danish striker has also been on the transfer radar for Serie A clubs like Inter Milan and Roma this summer.

Fabio Capello was asked if the Denmark international is the ‘right’ type of striker for AC Milan, despite Hojlund’s goalscoring struggles across two seasons at United.

“I know Hojlund, he’s done very well, even though he missed him at a certain point at United, despite doing some great things,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as per Tuttomercatoweb.

It is believed that Milan are willing to take Rasmus Hojlund out on loan for the 2025-26 campaign, with the Serie A club ready to pay a £3.47m (€4m) loan fee.

The Serie A club’s proposal with United would include an option to buy next summer for £34.7m (€40m), but it remains unclear if the Red Devils will agree to the deal.

Former Real Madrid and Juventus manager Capello has insisted that Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri could offer Hojlund “a lot” in a big “challenge” for the striker.

“AC Milan would be a great challenge for him,” he added.

“I think his age and a coach like Allegri can give him a lot.”

Hojlund had previously expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford and the Juventus and Milan-linked striker is currently under contract with United until 2028.
