Everton may be a surprise contender for some of the best picks in Fantasy Premier League this season.

David Moyes guided the Toffees to a 13th-place finish in the Premier League last time out, and the Scotsman is hoping to qualify for Europe.

Whether that is a realistic ambition remains to be seen, but the Friedkin Group have backed him with five signings so far, including Thierno Barry and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall.

Ndiaye is the most selected Everton player

Iliman Ndiaye takes the crown for the most selected Blues player ahead of the new season.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Senegal international is owned by 12.7 per cent of players and can be purchased for £6.5million.

The 25-year-old notched nine goals in the top-flight last season and has been touted as a potential bargain pick.

Moyes’ side utilises the former Marseille man in the majority of their attacks, so he could potentially bring a great return for players.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium have a nice run of fixtures to start the campaign, which is why he is such a tempting option.

Player Selected

Ndiaye 12.7%

Beto 12.1%

Pickford 12%

Tarkowski 5.5%

Everton’s most selected players on FPL.

Which Everton players should I pick?

Beto is the second most selected Everton star, with 12.5 per cent of players having him in their team.

The former Udinese striker notched eight goals last season, the majority of which came after Moyes returned to Goodison Park.

He is expected to be preferred to Barry at the start of the campaign, given the 21-year-old’s inexperience in the division, so he could be a great pickup at £5.5m.

Jordan Pickford is another sensible pick, the England number one is the third most selected Toffee and for a good reason.

Pickford finished third for clean sheets

However, he was the top goalkeeper in FPL with 158 points

He earned 15 bonus points last time out

The 30-year-old was the highest scoring goalkeeper last season and ranks at the same price as Alisson, David Raya and Ederson at £5.5m as a result.

The new defensive contributions metric may further increase the ex-Sunderland man’s dominance as the best between the sticks on FPL.

Player Price

Ndiaye £6.5m

Barry £6m

Pickford £5.5m

Beto £5.5m

Branthwaite £5.5m

Tarkowski £5.5m

Most expensive Everton players on FPL.

Defenders to get more points

The likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski could be good options as defenders will likely pick up more points.

The only way for defenders to pick up points previously was to either contribute in attack or keep a clean sheet.

However, they will now earn points for their contributions at the back, and that makes the centre-back duo an intriguing proposition.

The Blues partnership had 18 and 17 games where they would have scored four or more points; if the DEFCON points were implemented last season, that is 64 per cent and 52 per cent, respectively.

Therefore, they should definitely be under consideration.

How will Everton’s attackers fare?

Everton’s attackers are very under the radar on FPL, and that is understandable considering how they performed last season.

Beto is a popular pick, but the rest are selected by less than one per cent of users, which is not surprising.

Barry (selected by one per cent) is not expected to get the nod up front, and the £6m that he would cost is an expensive price to pay for a back-up.

Meanwhile, Yousef Chermiti and Martin Sherif should not see much action, and that is reflected in their ownership, with just 0.3 per cent and 0.2 per cent.

Dewsbury-Hall may be the hidden gem for Everton

New Everton addition Dewsbury-Hall is rated at £5m and could be a quality signing for fantasy players this season.

Playing in the number 10 role, he was excellent against Roma, driving forward and creating, as he registered four key passes in the clash.

Will play as a 10 or an advanced eight

Could pick up regular points

He also took set pieces in the contest, which could be useful as the Blues boast the likes of Tarkowski and Branthwaite, who are brilliant in the air at both ends.

He is owned by only two per cent of players at the moment, but is cheaper than the likes of Ndiaye, Carlos Alcaraz and Idrissa Gueye.

Should I get Everton players in my team right away?

Moyes’ side have a favourable fixture list to start the new season.

They travel to newly-promoted Leeds on the opening weekend (18 August) before hosting Brighton at their new stadium (24 August).

The Blues are on the road against Wolves (30 August) and then return to their new home for a contest with Aston Villa (13 September).

The final of their first five fixtures is the small matter of a Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield (20 September).

Pickford is one of the best stoppers on the game, and will earn points regardless of clean sheets, and the centre-back duo also look like solid picks.

Any other Toffees players may be a risk, as there is no guarantee that they will perform as expected.
