Gianluigi Donnarumma is reportedly open to leaving Paris St Germain this summer, but won't be forced out by the French giants, according to PA news agency. The Italian shot-stopper has been omitted from PSG's squad for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup match against Tottenham, fuelling speculation that he could depart Paris this summer if the right opportunity arises.

Manchester United have been rumoured to be interested in the 26 year old, whose contract expires next summer. However, it's understood that there has been no communication between United and PSG regarding Donnarumma so far.

Following the recent signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille, Donnarumma has been left out of the squad for the Spurs game in Udine.

Donnarumma, who was part of the victorious Italy team at Euro 2020, beating England in the final on penalties, is still considered one of the world's top goalkeepers.

Before joining PSG in 2021, he made over 200 appearances for AC Milan. With the Parisians, he has clinched four Ligue 1 titles and was part of the squad that demolished Inter Milan 5-0 to secure last season's Champions League title.

The Daily Star reported last week how it seems Donnarumma is set to bid adieu to Paris this summer and TEAMtalk reports that United have 'officially expressed their interest'. The report indicates that United reckon a deal would be 'very difficult' at present, but the situation could evolve.

Andre Onana, currently United's top pick for goalkeeper, has faced criticism ever since his £47m transfer from Inter Milan in 2023 due to a string of blunders and erratic performances. When quizzed about his future plans earlier this summer, Onana responded: "Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see!"

United manager Ruben Amorim, however, is backing the 29-year-old to bounce back stronger this season. "I think even when you talk about Andre, you can see the goalkeepers," Amorim shared with journalists.

"Even Tom [Heaton] is leaner, he's a different goalkeeper. Altay [Bayindir] did really well, and Onana is going to be better, like the other guys, this year. I think are we better in every detail, in the organisation of the day-by-day.

"The nutrition is better, the way we cook, what we eat, how we prepare training. I think that we are more organised. I think we have people now that help us to be better. I'm not concerned with small things and I was last year.

"So, those things help us and help me to think more about watching the game, watching the team. So it's a big help for me. When it's a big help for the technical staff, it's a big help for the players."
