Man United could see a major sale this summer amid interest in one of their players from AC Milan.

Ruben Amorim will want to ensure a few more sales ahead of the new season starting at the weekend, as Manchester United need extra funds to balance the books after spending over £200m this summer.

Hojlund open to joining AC Milan

Rasmus Hojlund struggled last season at United. He managed to score just four goals in the Premier League, which isn’t good enough for the Red Devils’ number nine. That is why United decided to spend big on Sesko this summer.

Since signing Sesko, reports have emerged suggesting that Italian giants AC Milan are keen to sign Hojlund this summer. They have joined Serie A rivals Inter and Napoli as clubs that have been linked to the Danish international. He is estimated to be worth £30m, which is a huge downgrade on the £72m Man United paid for him two summers ago.

According to an update by the Manchester Evening News, Hojlund is ‘open’ to joining Milan this summer, and United are confident that a deal can be done, as they look to recoup some of the money they spent on Sesko.

The only issue so far is that Milan wants to sign him on loan with an option to buy, whereas United would prefer a permanent transfer, so there will have to be a compromise from both sides to get a deal done.

Man Utd reach verbal agreement to sell Hojlund

Amid the interest from AC Milan, reports were saying that the Danish striker didn’t want to leave Old Trafford. But it does seem now as though he is more keen on a move, which could quickly accelerate the talks around a move to Italy.

However, because United paid £72m for him in 2023, United would have to sell Hojlund for at least £43.2m in order to avoid making a loss with regards to PSR, something that could be hard to negotiate a sale for that much, considering his poor form last year. If the Red Devils wanted to sell him for that much, they would potentially have to negotiate that as part of a loan-to-buy deal. But, it does seem that if United are to sell Hojlund this summer, it will make a PSR loss.
