TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene during his preseason debut with the New England Patriots.
The rookie running back opened eyes across the organization with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Washington.
His performance extended beyond special teams as Henderson showcased his versatility during two series with the starting offense.
The speed that caught attention throughout training camp in Foxborough translated perfectly to game action.
Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has worked with plenty of talented backs during his coaching career, but Henderson stands apart in one key area.
“I think everyone sees TreVeyon the same way,” McDaniels told reporters. “He’s a tremendous kid. Awesome individual, really hard worker. Smart kid. Can process a lot of information, which allows you as a coach to use him in the ways he should be used. He’s explosive. I think we all saw that the other night. Tough. Physical. I don’t have many negatives to say about Tre. But excited to coach him.”

Henderson’s addition to New England came without much fanfare. The Patriots already had established options in Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson.
Yet Henderson has carved out his own role through consistent production during camp.
His explosiveness shows up in multiple ways. Henderson has excelled as a pass catcher out of the backfield during team drills.
His blocking has been reliable when called upon. The mental side of his game appears advanced for a rookie as he processes assignments quickly.
McDaniels seems ready to utilize Henderson in various packages. The coordinator has multiple roles in mind for the speedy back.
Henderson gives rookie quarterback Drake Maye another dynamic weapon to work with.
In a camp marked by competition and adjustment to new systems, Henderson has emerged as one of the standout performers.
