The Indianapolis Colts quarterback battle remains wide open as training camp progresses at Grand Park.
Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones continue fighting for the starting position with neither player pulling clearly ahead through the early stages of the preseason.
Both quarterbacks have shown flashes while also displaying inconsistencies that keep the competition alive.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter recently provided his assessment of where the battle currently stands during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“I don’t think this team has decided who its quarterback is going to be yet. I think the job is there to be won still. And one of these guys is going to have to go out and win it the next couple of weeks,” Schefter noted.

Richardson has shown marked improvement in his grasp of Shane Steichen’s offensive system. The young quarterback has demonstrated better command and accuracy during recent practice sessions.
He started the preseason opener against Baltimore but left early after dislocating his pinky finger.
The injury did not sideline him for an extended time as Richardson returned to practice within days.
Jones has brought veteran leadership to the quarterback room but struggled against Baltimore’s second-string defense.
He completed just 10 of 21 passes for 144 yards without finding the end zone in his preseason debut.
Steichen has rotated first-team repetitions between both players to evaluate their performance in game-like situations.
Jones is expected to see increased playing time in the second preseason game as the evaluation process continues.
The Colts plan to make their final decision after completing the preseason schedule and joint practices with Green Bay.
The franchise recognizes that establishing stability at quarterback is crucial for their playoff aspirations and long-term roster development moving forward.
