Jaguars Return To Work After Preseason Week 1 Loss to Steelers

"We have new systems on both sides of the ball. It's going to probably take a little bit more than a preseason game to correct some of the things we want to get corrected and play as sound we'd like to play."

Coen, who said he liked the physicality and performance in the run game – and run defense – Saturday, lauded a late fourth-down stop on defense and late stop by the defense in a four-minute situation.

"When it mattered, there were some nice plays and some good effort," Coen said.

Coen also on Monday reiterated what he said following Saturday's game – that he liked the play of quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence completed six of seven passes for 43 yards on the game's opening drive, a series that featured two Jaguars penalties and that ended with a 41-yard field goal by kicker Cam Little. Lawrence and the Jaguars' first-team offense did not play Saturday after the first series.

"It was solid," Coen said of Lawrence's first game in Coen's offensive system. "He went out and did his job. He operated well. We didn't ask him to go do too much. It was just solid from an operations standpoint, for sure."
