The Patriots made a pair of moves on Monday, essentially swapping defensive tackles.
New England signed veteran Kyle Peko and released rookie Bryce Ganious. The 21-year-old Ganious was invited to the Patriots’ rookie minicamp during the spring. He was an undrafted free agent.
The Patriots signed Ganious last week.
Peko’s signing reunites him with Mike Vrabel, who coached the veteran in two stints with the Tennessee Titans in 2021 and 2023.
He also had two stints with the Denver Broncos before he made stops with the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders and the Detroit Lions. In 47 games (14 starts), Peko has amassed 58 total tackles, two sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble.
A torn pectoral suffered in Week 6 ended his 2024 season prematurely. Before the injury, he was an underrated part of the Lions defense. In five games, Peko totaled two tackles, one tackle for loss and two quarterback hits.
Peko entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Broncos.
