Kyler Murray Predicts Big Breakout Year For Cardinals RB

The Arizona Cardinals want to add more juice to the running game.

That’s where Trey Benson comes in.

The second-year pro has turned some heads in training camp, and Kyler Murray has big expectations for him.

When asked about him, the former No. 1 pick predicted he would have a breakout year this season (Via Dan Loya).

Benson has reportedly bulked up and added up to ten pounds of muscle this offseason.

Also, he might be a better option as a pass-catcher than James Conner.

Conner recently claimed that they were ‘both RB1,’ so perhaps the Cardinals will approach the season with a committee out of their backfield.

Conner is coming off consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns, but he’s not getting any younger.

He’s 30 years old already, and we’ve seen how quickly aging running backs tend to fall off a cliff.

Benson accounted for roughly 13% of the team’s carries last season, with Conner logging around 50% of the workload.

Given all the rave reports and his solid outing in the first preseason game, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see Benson take several touches away from his veteran teammate.

The Cardinals are a bit of a question mark at this point.

And while they will have to do some catching up in the division to go back to playoff contention, taking some pressure off of Kyler Murray’s shoulders and establishing a well-balanced attack will certainly help their case as a potential sleeper.
