Manchester United might look to sign Gabriel Sara
Last season was nothing less than a nightmare for Manchester United. 15th place in the Premier League, losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final, and being eliminated from European competitions for the next season – all were big setbacks for the club of the stature of the Red Devils. Ruben Amorim took over as manager mid-season, but getting the team back on track immediately proved to be a challenge. Now the new season will begin without European football, but the club has made rapid moves in the transfer market.
The club have already completed high-profile signings, such as Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, while also adding young Diogo Leon to the squad. Most importantly, by signing Benjamin Sesko, United have tried to fill their striker’s gap, especially after Rasmus Hojlund’s poor form last season. Amorim’s vision is clear, and that is to build a fast, technical and positionally accurate team that controls the ball and creates chances.
Search for a new midfielder
Now the news is that the club are looking to add another big name to their midfield as well. The lack of energy and creativity in midfield was clearly visible last season. Amorim’s plan is to have a player in the middle who can keep possession, increase the passing tempo and break down the opposition defence. Casemiro is at the fag end of his career, Eriksen has left, and Ugarte is still not settled. That’s why the focus was on Carlos Baleba, but now it has turned to one particular name, who has been consistently impressing over the past year.
Manchester United might look to sign Gabriel Sara.
Sara would be an incredible addition regardless
According to Turkish outlet Takvim, United are preparing a formal offer for Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara. The 26-year-old has performed brilliantly in the Super Lig since joining from Norwich City. He played 45 matches last season and provided 10 assists. The report reveals that Galatasaray do not want to sell him but are willing to discuss an offer of around £34 million. The Brazilian midfielder is under contract until 2029, but this option looks far better than spending three times as much on Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. Meanwhile, the club have also looked at Javie Guerra as a backup plan as well.
Gabriel Sara fits perfectly into Amorim’s system. Our manager needs a midfielder who can seamlessly move the ball from defence to attack, and Sara does just that. His passing, vision and tempo control could add life to United’s game. Spending on the 26-year-old rather than an expensive option like Baleba would make sense this summer, as it would allow the club to strengthen other positions.
If United can sell their unloved players like Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony quickly, then this deal is possible this summer itself. This transfer would not only strengthen the squad but also provide stability for Amorim in the years to come. Once this signing happens, United’s midfield could have the edge it’s been missing for the past several seasons, and we can also add to the depth in that region. We do feel like, if we have the funds, we can negotiate for even a lower price. Let’s see what happens in the remaining days of the transfer window.
