The Kansas City Chiefs are trying to get back to the top of the mountain after an embarassing defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX to cap off last season. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been candid this offseason about where the team needs to improve to get to where it wants to go.
“We got to keep doing it, though, and we got great corners, so that’s going to be a lot of challenges for us,” Mahomes said about pushing the ball downfield against the Chiefs defense over training camp.
“But even on some of those that we throw incomplete, that we’re throwing down the field, we can talk through those routes and talk through that stuff. And so that’s the mindset is getting back to throwing the ball down the field, and if we can do that, it’ll open up the rest of the offense.”
Unfortunately, one of those defensive backs Mahomes was looking at to provide a challenge is going to be unavailable for the 2025 campaign, according to one prominent Chiefs insider.
“Andy Reid confirmed that Deon Bush sustained a torn left Achilles tendon,” reported ESPN’s Nate Taylor on Saturday.
Fans reacted to the brutal break for Bush on social media.
“Hate this for him and the team. Veteran depth piece in case of injuries to the front line guys,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Praying for a speedy recovery for Deon Bush,” someone else added.
“Damn. That sucks so much. Prayers to D Bush for a swift recovery,” another fan wrote.
Hopefully, Taylor makes a full recovery and returns next season stronger than ever.
