JayVian Farr signed with the Buccaneers on Monday after three corner injuries

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have three cornerbacks currently sidelined due to injury, opening the door for JayVian Farr to sign with the team, according to FOX Sports’ Greg Auman.

Benjamin Morrison, Bryce Hall and Roman Parodie all missed practice on Monday, with no real indication of the severity of all three injuries yet.

Farr received an invite to the Buccaneers’ rookie minicamp back in May, and despite not making the team at the time, has found himself another opportunity a few months later. Tampa Bay held a five-player workout Monday morning, with Farr setting himself apart and earning the spot.

The Buccaneers needed bodies to field a team for the next two weeks of the preseason, and made sure to play it safe with the injuries to other corners in the room potentially causing them to miss some time.

Despite Division II Roots, Farr’s Resume Impresses

After five years at Augustana University, located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, JayVian Farr did enough to grab the attention of teams around the NFL. 25 teams showed up to his pro day, after putting together a strong year in 2024.

Farr was named to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team last year, tallying an interception and five pass breakups to go along with 21 total tackles and one tackle for loss.

Across the 47 games in his collegiate career, Farr totaled three interceptions and 19 pass breakups in coverage. He added 99 tackles, as well as three NSIC championships and an All-NSIC Second Team nod in 2023.

The stats may not jump out, but Farr’s athletic ability is nothing to write home about. Despite his 5-foot-9, 192-pound frame, the rookie boasts a 4.44 40-yard dash time that he ran at his pro day, along with a 36-inch vertical jump and a 6.97-second 3-cone drill, all of which would rank within the top 10 corners at the NFL Combine in 2025.

Buccaneers Without Three Key Pieces in Cornerback Room

Benjamin Morrison dealt with a hip surgery in college that potentially allowed him to slip into the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Now it seems a different injury, this time to his hamstring, will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the preseason, and potentially some of the regular season.

The 21-year-old was generating positive reviews for his play during training camp, but missed Saturday’s preseason game against the Tennessee Titans and will need to earn a spot on the field after rehabbing his injury.

Bryce Hall was one of two corners to get banged up in the Buccaneers’ preseason game on Saturday, with an undisclosed injury keeping him off the practice field on Monday.

After missing all of the 2024 season due to injury, Hall signed a one-year, $1,170,000 contract to come to Tampa Bay this offseason. Despite playing 23 snaps on Saturday and a role being carved out over the course of training camp, Hall’s status moving forward is unknown.

Roman Parodie made headlines with a 39-yard pick-six on Saturday, making his presence known in his first NFL game after going undrafted. His impressive play is now shadowed by the fact that he, too, was not practicing with the Buccaneers on Monday.

When asked if any of the three injuries were long-term on Monday, head coach Todd Bowles couldn’t give a concrete answer.

“We’ll see, I hope not,” Bowles said. “Obviously, the corner spot runs a lot, and a couple got nicked up in [Saturday’s] game, so we’ll see how long they’re out.”
