Since departing NFL Network in 2024, James Palmer hasn’t lacked opportunities in the NFL media space. On Monday, he announced his latest venture on social media: joining The Athletic’s Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel on the Scoop City podcast ahead of the 2025 NFL season.
Shortly after leaving NFL Network, Palmer briefly served as a Senior NFL reporter at Underdog Media Network from August 2024 to May 2025. This role complements his ongoing work as an NFL insider for Bleacher Report, which he still holds.
Palmer will add to his responsibilities by joining the Scoop City podcast every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the NFL season. He announced the new role in a video posted on his X account alongside Russini and Daniel.
In the video, Russini previewed Palmer’s role on the podcast, explaining he’ll provide additional “football intel” and help keep the show “on the tracks.”
“Alright, Scoop City, we’ve got a new friend of the show,” said Russini. “James Palmer will be joining us every episode this season. Helping us out, giving some football intel, keeping the train on the tracks for us.”

This new role will add to the growing list of Palmer’s commitments in 2025. In response to a fan question about the 89 podcast, which he co-hosts with former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith Sr., Palmer hinted that there is more news on the horizon.
“Oh, that’s not over,” Palmer wrote. “Keep an eye out.”
