Brighton sign Chelsea defender Mpomé

**Brighton & Hove Albion have signed former Chelsea defender Maelys Mpomé on a permanent deal.**

The 22-year-old centre back made eight appearances for Chelsea across all competitions throughout her one-year tenure with the west London club. The defender started just two of her five [Women’s Super League](https://thehalfwayline.com/category/womens-super-league/) appearances for the club.

“We’re pleased to have Maelys with us. She’s had some exposure to the WSL already and we feel she can really develop with us,” said [Brighton](https://thehalfwayline.com/category/womens-super-league/brighton-hove-albion/) head coach Dario Vidosic.

“She’s a versatile defender with a lot of good attributes and we’re looking forward to working with her,” he added.

Brighton will commence their Women’s Super League campaign at home against Aston Villa on September 7.
