Jon Gruden has been one of the biggest personalities in the coaching world. However, since his resignation from the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, he has not been on the sidelines for a team. Gruden has been successful in the NFL, boasting a 117-112 record with a Super Bowl victory under his belt.
It appears that he wants to return to coaching, but not to the NFL specifically. Let’s take a deeper dive into what Gruden said recently about his aspirations.

In a video where he visited the Georgia Bulldogs on his YouTube channel titled “Gruden Visit Georgia & Jaguars Training Camp | Inside the FFCA Ep. 21“, Jon Gruden explained how he wants to be coaching once again, but in the Southeastern Conference.
“The only reason I really came here is because is because I want to coach again. I’m being honest with you. I do not bullsh** either. I want to coach again. I’d die to coach in the SEC. I would love it. I would f***ing love it. I’ll tell you guys this… what I know about the SEC is it’s getting harder. The SEC is getting harder. They tell me Texas is in the SEC. They tell me Oklahoma is in the SEC. G**damn.”
Jon Gruden has not been a coach in college football since 1991, when he was the wide receivers coach for the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Super Bowl-winning coach has not been part of an NFL team since the 2021 season, when he was a consultant for the New Orleans Saints. However, with his current run in the media, including joining Barstool Sports in November 2024, he has shown the ability to be personable on camera and looks to get back into the coaching ranks.
Gruden is not the only former coach who would be willing to return to the sidelines soon. Do you think Jon Gruden could be a successful coach in the Southeastern Conference?
