Viktor Gyokeres suggests player whose contract was terminated by Man United is the strongest striker ever

Viktor Gyokeres was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United before he joined Arsenal.

The Sweden international was always expected to leave Sporting CP this summer, and there were suggestions that Ruben Amorim could convince him to move to Old Trafford.

However, Gyokeres wanted to join Arsenal over any other club from the start, and after weeks of tough negotiations, the deal was struck.

Gyokeres is physically very strong, but he has now hinted that an old Manchester United striker ranks at the top.

Viktor Gyokeres suggests Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the strongest striker he has ever seen

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a massive name in football throughout his career.

The legendary Swede played for nine different clubs back in the day, one of which was Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.

Ibrahimovic played 53 games for Manchester United, scored 29 goals and provided 10 assists during his time there. He also helped them win three trophies.

However, after two major knee injuries, Ibrahimovic’s contract was terminated by Manchester United in March 2018. He then joined LA Galaxy on a free transfer.

The Malmo-born striker will always be remembered for his goals and personality on and off the pitch, but what people should also talk about is his strength.

Viktor Gyokeres, who is a strong player himself, has given Ibrahimovic credit.

On Arsenal’s social channels, while building the perfect striker by picking one player for each attribute, the new Arsenal number 14 was asked to name the forward with the best strength.

Gyokeres replied, “Also Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” after picking the Swede for his heading as well.

Benjamin Sesko and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have a special connection

After learning that Gyokeres didn’t want to join Manchester United, the Red Devils took some time and then pounced to sign Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenia international, ironically, was Arsenal’s top target in this window, but he will be playing against the Gunners on the opening day of the new season.

Sesko’s role model is none other than former Manchester United star Ibrahimovic.

When asked to name his idol growing up, the striker told Manchester United’s social channels: “I was always watching Zlatan Ibrahimovic. For me, he’s just great in general.

“I always watched him, I still do watch him. So, for me, it’s definitely him.”

If Sesko goes on to have even half as good a career as Ibrahimovic did, he will become a hero to Manchester United fans.
