Report: Leicester wonderkid 'on Everton's list of targets' as potential Premier League raid threat increases

Leicester City could lose yet more star power from their squad, with plenty of Premier League eyes on their players.

The Foxes made their Championship return on Sunday, coming from behind to beat troubled visitors Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 following an 87th-minute winner and controversial celebration from Wout Faes.

Those celebrations will have been slightly muted by reports that Newcastle have ‘strong interest’ in Bilal El Khannouss.

But the attacking midfielder isn’t the only Leicester fan favourite who is being linked with an exit away from the Championship side before the end of the window.

Abdul Fatawu ‘on Everton’s list’ of targets

Leicester winger Abdul Fatawu is also being linked with a Premier League move. According to Sky Sports’ Alan Myers, the former Sporting Lisbon forward is on Everton’s list of targets.

The 21-year-old, who played 78 minutes of his side’s opening day victory, has made 57 appearances for the Foxes since joining on loan in 2023 and then permanently last summer.

That includes 11 appearances in the Premier League, with him grabbing two assists in that time. He missed 29 games after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury in November.

Fatawu, a Ghana international, was previously linked with a move to Everton’s rivals Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and has become a well-loved figure at the King Power.

Who else have Leicester sold this summer?

Leicester have let go of Conor Coady to Wrexham and Wilfred Ndidi to Besiktas, while iconic striker Jamie Vardy left at the end of his contract.

It’s been a quiet summer transfer window for Leicester when it comes to incoming transfers, with Asmir Begovic being the only signing after the expiration of his contract with, ironically, Everton.

Last week, EFL Analysis’ Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey predicted that Leicester need to sell more to buy and that incomings will be few and far between.

He said: “They had over 30 players, so they could do with a good half a dozen to move on, really. They’re working on it. I don’t think it’s a set number really, but they want a dozen to go if not more.

“I’m not sure if and when they will make any moves to sign anyone, but it doesn’t help when you’ve got 31 players in the Championship.

“You can’t keep adding to that. It’s a real issue for them. But, there’s still time, and I think they’re fairly confident of getting that squad down.”
