Famous singer to run Brighton Half Marathon for the first time

Olly Alexander has joined Team Beacon and will take on his first half marathon challenge.

The singer, songwriter, and actor will run the Brighton Half Marathon 2026 in support of The Sussex Beacon, a charity based in Brighton that provides care and support for people living with HIV.

He announced the news in a video shared on social media.

Mr Alexander said: "I’m so excited to be joining Team Beacon for the Brighton Half Marathon.

"I’ve fallen in love with the charity and the work they do, which is so important and vital for the LGBTQ+ community and people living with HIV.

"I was lucky enough to meet some of the team and service users earlier this year and I can’t wait to see them all again.

"I’m slightly nervous as I’ve never taken part in a half marathon before, but I can’t think of a better introduction than to race with new friends and help raise some money for an amazing charity."

Mr Alexander visited The Sussex Beacon in February to meet staff and service users and learn more about the charity’s work.

He invited others to join him in running the half marathon, noting that entry is free for those who commit to fundraising for the charity.
