Leeds enquired about the Roma striker earlier in the window, and have continued to monitor his situation over the last few weeks.
Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini remained coy over his future at the club when asked recently to clarify the striker’s situation, and the club are open to selling him.
Leeds scouts were present at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday to watch him in action against Everton in Roma’s 1-0 pre-season friendly win.
And according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Whites are now making a fresh attempt to sign the Roma striker in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Talks are taking place behind the scenes, and Leeds are trying to convince the striker first before engaging in negotiations with Roma in the coming days.
Leeds will make their offer to the Serie A giants once they have the consent of the Ukrainian forward.
Roma are ready to sell him for a fee in the region of £26m, and there is now a real possibility Dovbyk could be at Elland Road next season.
