Jack Harrison is far from popular at Leeds, but he is determined to prove he has a future at Elland Road.

Harrison has been booed during Leeds’ pre-season fixtures, after spending the last two years on loan at Everton.

The winger was an important player in the past, but faces an uncertain future at Elland Road, with the Toffees also not keen on a return at this stage.

Leeds have now confirmed their squad numbers for the Premier League season, and Harrison has sprung a surprise with the number 38, but his reasoning has now been explained.

Harrison squad number choice explained

Harrison is now attempting to win back the support of the Leeds fanbase after disrespecting them with how he left on loan after their relegation in 2023.

The upcoming season will be a fresh start for him, whether or not this is at Elland Road, after two unproductive years at Everton.

With the new season comes a new squad number, as Harrison has found that his previous number, 11, is currently occupied by Brenden Aaronson.

Harrison failed to impress last season

Aaronson reinvented himself at Leeds in the Championship despite being unpopular among fans.

Harrison will try to do the same after realising how much disdain the fans hold towards him.

The Daily Mail (August 11) have now reported that Harrison has chosen the number 38 shirt, as the two numbers, three and eight, add up to his old squad number of 11.

This may indicate that he was unhappy about losing his old number, but given the position he is in, a new start with a fresh number may be best for him.

Harrison has little time to redeem himself

Daniel Farke has admitted that the only way for Harrison to find himself in favour with the fans again is to deliver on the pitch.

The transfer window is still open, and an exit remains possible, but as it stands, he is a Leeds player and will likely feature in the Premier League.

This does not give Harrison much time to prove that he deserves to stay before the window shuts, but the lack of a new left winger could mean Leeds are forced to keep him.
