Cork man and former Manchester United star Roy Keane has marked his 54th birthday with a behind-the-scenes look at his life as a grandfather.
In a post shared on social media, Keane posted a seven-slide carousel captioned: “Happy Birthday to me. All the gifts I need.”
The post featured images of Keane enjoying his time on holiday, swimming with his grandchildren, pushing his grandson in a pram, and another of him smiling while holding one of the family’s latest arrivals.
The former Ireland captain received thousands of comments from fans, family, and friends, wishing him a happy birthday.
Among the top comments, some of which were from fellow sportspeople, was a message from David Beckham, who posted his wishes for the Cork man.
Various clubs and organisations also joined in the tributes. “Wishing a very happy birthday to United legend, Roy Keane,” wrote the Manchester United official page.
Another top comment was penned by former Irish footballer Paul McGrath, who wrote: “Happy Birthday, pal.”
McGrath also shared an image of him and Keane on his personal account, captioned: “Happy Birthday Roy, hope you had a good day and are mellowing out in your old age.”
Other commentators included former professional footballer and Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison, as well as YouTube personality Adam Mckola — known for his commentary on Manchester United — and the official FAI account.
