Hull City to rival Sheffield Wednesday for Manchester United starlet

Hull City are keen on taking Manchester United youngster Toby Collyer on loan but face rival interest from fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, reports Alan Nixon via his Patreon.

Hull City’s spell under Acun Ilicali has been anything but steady, veering from the brink of the play-offs to barely escaping relegation. HCAFC supporters crave stability, yet that ambition feels further away than ever after the latest managerial sacking.

This summer, the Tigers have been hampered by a transfer embargo brought on by unpaid debts, raising fresh questions over the club’s finances and Ilicali’s long-term plan. Even so, speculation over new arrivals has been relentless at the MKM Stadium.

Despite the restrictions, Hull have still been active, bringing in ten signings so far, including John Lundstram and forward Joe Gelhardt. Another player has now emerged on the Hull City radar now too.

According to reporter Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, Hull City are keen on Manchester United’s Toby Collyer. Collyer could leave United on loan this summer, and a move to the Championship could suit.

Sheffield Wednesday will rival HCAFC for Collyer’s services. Wednesday are keen on taking Collyer as well as full-back Harry Amass from Manchester United.

Toby Collyer would be an interesting signing for Hull City

Hull City have plenty of options in midfield but one of which, Eliot Matazo, is injured and another, Gustavo Puerta, could be set to move on. The Tigers could use another man in the middle in the short term, and Collyer could be a shrewd option.

Collyer has been on the fringes of the Manchester United first team for a couple of years now. A move to the Championship is just what he needs at this time to get his career in first-team football up and running.

Hull City have proven to be a good place for young players in recent years, with Manchester City and Liverpool allowing their youngsters to move there. Collyer could be the latest to learn his trade with a spell with the Tigers.

Exciting times ahead for Hull City despite their embargo

Hull City’s summer transfer window began with high hopes but has mostly brought frustration. Early optimism quickly faded when a transfer embargo hit, a major setback that scuppered several promising moves.

One casualty was a loan deal for Louie Barry, who instead joined Sheffield United. Even so, there are signs of revival, with several new faces coming through the door.

A handful of fresh arrivals, encouraging pre-season performances, and a solid opening-day draw with Coventry City could give the Tigers the strong start they lacked last season.
