And he said he is likely to pop up in goalscoring positions when the time is right.
De Cuyper is expected to make his Prem debut when Albion face Fulham on Saturday.
He capped a promising pre-season campaign following his summer move from Club Brugge by scoring the winner against Wolfsburg.
The left-sided link between De Cuyper, a converted winger, and Mitoma looks an exciting one for the Seagulls.
De Cuyper said: “If you can play with a winger like this, I think everybody knows his qualities.
“I can take advantage of his qualities and, if he is pulling to defenders to him, it gives me more space to do something.
“I think we have a good co-operation between each other and we can use it.”
De Cuyper finished from the six-yard to secure the 2-1 success over Wolfsburg.
He added: “I was in the right place.
“It can be that I will be there often with the right timing.
“Not every attack I will be there so I have to take my moment and hopefully score more goals.”
De Cuyper had his first run-out during the trip to Spain and believes he has progressed through pre-season.
He added: “I needed some time. We already had a long preparation so I really needed the time to know my team-mates.
“It’s not from the first friendly I am playing like this.
“I start to know my team-mates now and the way we want to play so it is growing every week.”
