Man United could be without up to four players for their opening Premier League game against Arsenal.

After a summer that has been filled with Manchester United’s impressive transfer business, they open their Premier League campaign against Arsenal. They added striker Benjamin Sesko and number 10s Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, creating a sense of cautious optimism at Old Trafford ahead of the new season.

Ruben Amorim’s side face a game against Arsenal on the opening day at Old Trafford in what could be the game of the first back week in the Premier League. If Amorim’s side can really test Arsenal, it could send a message that United could be serious challengers this year.

Arsenal injury news

Mikel Arteta’s side will be hoping to claim their first league title since 2003/04, and they will begin their title hunt at Old Trafford. However, they could be without two players for their season opener, which could change Arteta’s line-up decisions.

Firstly, Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out of the game as he is still recovering from his ACL injury that he suffered in January. It looks as though the Brazilian will still be out until November, making his future at the Emirates fairly uncertain.

Leandro Trossard is also dealing with a knock and submitted a late fitness test after their final pre-season game against Athletic Bilbao. He is a doubt for the game against United, but looks increasingly likely to play rather than not.

Man United injury news

United instead are at risk of losing four players due to injury for the opener against Arsenal. Firstly, Lisandro Martinez is still recovering from his long-term knee injury that he suffered in February. It looks as though he will be out until October at the earliest.

Defender Noussair Mazraoui also missed the Fiorentina game despite the fact that beforehand, he was expected to play in it. The Moroccan defender is dealing with a hamstring strain and is hoping to be available for the game on Sunday.

Finally, Joshua Zirkzee is also a doubt for the game, as he is recovering from a minor injury. He was expected to play against Fiorentina on Saturday, but he was ruled out as a precaution. The Dutchman could be available against Arsenal as he is back in training but would more likely start on the bench.
