Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak does not expect to pull on a black-and-white shirt again - despite having another two years left on his current contract.
The Swedish star has made it clear he wants to leave St James' Park this summer, with Liverpool having an initial bid for the striker turned down earlier this month.
Magpies head coach Eddie Howe and the club's hierarchy held taks with Isak last week when the squad returned from their pre-season trip to Singapore and South Korea, but were unable to make any breakthrough.
He has been training separately from the squad and Howe confirmed he is not able to include him with the main group - nor consider him for selection for Saturday's Premier League opener against Aston Villa.
As ChronicleLive reported yesterday, Newcastle's stance is that Isak is not going anywhere as things stand, with no new bid from Liverpool received.
Now the Athletic report that Isak is 'adamant' he will not play for Newcastle again - even if no transfer exit emerges over the coming days.
Liverpool have less that three weeks to return with an improved offer, but even then Newcastle will be reluctant to sell until their have a suitable replacement signed.
David Ornstein claims Isak has no interest in reintegrating with his team-mates, and the 25-year-old appears to be digging his heels in over a move away.

Newcastle have been linked with several forward options in recent weeks after missing out on Benjamin Sesko, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike.
Chelsea's NIcolas Jackson is said to favour a move to Newcastle after being told he can leave Stamford Bridge, while Brentford's Yoane Wissa remains a target.
Speaking about Isak last weekend, Howe said: "We’ve had discussions and it’s clear at the moment we can’t have him involved with the group.
"I don’t know how long that will be for. It’s clear I can’t involve him with the team at the moment. He is training later than the rest of the squad. There have been discussions since the tour.
"I don’t think disciplinary action has happened. He is here, so of course he has a future at Newcastle. From our perspective, we would love to have him back with the team, but the situation has to be right for that to happen.
"We would love there to be a way back but, ultimately, that's going to rest with Alex. For us, he's still very much our player. But the situation is what it is - and I have to focus on the players that are here and fit, and want to play."
