Leak causes last-minute twist as Marinakis irritated – Nottingham Forest transfer delayed

It would appear Evangelos Marinakis and Carlos Miguel’s camp aren’t fans of leaks. And that’s exactly what’s holding up the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper’s sale to Brazil.

According to Globo Esporte, the deal we covered earlier hit turbulence after news of the agreement slipped out over the weekend. The leak caused discomfort on both sides and led to tweaks in the terms that had been on the table.

The current sticking point is a gap between the total contract value being offered and what the goalkeeper’s entourage wants.

Those involved say it’s nothing dramatic and should be easy to fix, but there’s now more caution about when the deal will actually be sealed.

A fresh meeting between the player’s representatives and the club is scheduled for early this week to smooth things out.

The fee with Forest is already set at around €4m plus performance-related bonuses, and the Premier League side have given their blessing for the move.

It’s still just a matter of time, but a little more than before.
