Dak Prescott has been the target of a tirade coming from ESPN’s veteran sports journalist, Stephen A. Smith. This came after the Cowboys’ QB called out the Los Angeles Rams even before the 2025 NFL season started, saying that they will be meeting in the NFC Championship Game.
These comments by Dak Prescott prompt Stephen A. Smith to come in and bring the thhe three-time Pro Bowler to the ground using his ESPN platform, First Take. Smith pointed out that Prescott is entering his 10th NFL season and has no conference title game to boast. Pouring fuel to the fire, Smith added that the Rams probably laughed at the wild claim by Prescott.

For Smith, all these comments by Prescott are just for publicity and has on bite.
“He makes sure he gets the headlines. He makes sure he gets the publicity,” said Smith. “He just makes sure to do everything but win when the postseason arrives.”

Stephen A. Smith does the math to debunk Dak Prescott’s claim
Wanting to prove his point, Stephen A. Smith pulled out the numbers for Dak Prescott, showing his career earnings as compared to playoff wins. With just two playoff wins under his name, Smith did the math, saying that he is paid $124.3 million ver playoff win as compared to Patrick Mahomes’s $10.7 million in each of his 17 playoff victories.
The criticism that Prescott drew after his fiesty prediction has been intense in social media as the Cowboys have yet to reach the NFC Championship Game since 1995, when they defeated the Green Bay Packers, 38-28.
As it stands, Dak Prescott’s playoff record is only at 2-5. As a playoff performer, his numbers show 64.5% pass complation for 1,962 yards, 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The Cowboys QB’s bold claim has been deemed as far-fetched as the team is in the middle of a contract negotiation standoff with Micah Parsons, who will serve to be a critical component.

During the 2024 season, Prescott has been just limited to eight games due to a hamstring injury and many are questioning his health moving forward.
Even with the limited success that the Cowboys had in the past decades since their glory days in the 90s, Stephen A. Smith’s frustration with the elite football franchise has been a reflection of the organization’s chronic broken promises to build a competitive team.
